Well Maverick continues on a streak 2 weeks in a row we went out Saturday and within a mile of last weeks 108 pounder we hooked up a bigger fish. We had an offshore newbie on board first trip ever and he worked the fish like a pro a little hand up to hand at the end and we slid a 61" 140 pounder in through the tuna door Worked the area over hard for another and then slid out a little deeper to go 1 for 2 on yellowfin to fill the small spot left in the fish box.

Saturday Maverick took a charter out after finally recovering from the Turbo Blues and we lit them up. Started at Massey's for the first kill dropped the flat lines in and didn't get the third line in before SPLASH shortly there after a 45.5" was in the box bled out and iced, we stayed and caught and released 2 more in the same size range then headed out to slightly deeper water and found good sign so we dropped the spread out again and no sooner had everything right when SPLASH....SPLASH a pair of big fish hit both flatlines, the first one broke off the 100 pound leader that later showed sign of being bitten (Damn Bluefish) the other battle went on for just under an hour on 30 pound gear and finally the pig was close enough for the steel hook of death and a fast trip in through the tuna door, 57.5" later weighing in at 107.8 pounds. Late in the day we had 1 of 5 anglers who had not landed a tuna and we just couldn't have that so we headed back in to the teacup to find breaking tuna and proceded to play around but could not get them to hit last ditch effort we ran right through the school and pushed them down and shortly after one was all over the teaser so we brought in a bait shook him off the teaser and finally got my last man another one hooked up, while he was fighting it (presuming small bluefin) I was cleaning up and putting away and low and behold it turned out to be a 35" yellowbird who joined the rest in the box of ice slurry. As you can tell by this story I had a co captain and I chose to go back to my roots and be the pit monkey on this trip and it sure felt good to have a great day.Hot teaser of the day rasta daisy dropper chains hot bait of the day Matanza with bally caught 4 of the 5 Bluefin.

There has been good tuna action along with plenty of marlin bites in the blue water we have been catching Sea Bass and Flounder on half day trips as well. Above pictured Wahoo was caught while trolling the 30 line and there is plenty of dolphin action. The chunk bite is good with some off days mixed in but it is normally a dependable fishing method.

Maverick is back in the water and in excellent condition ready for another season of great fishing.Winter upgrades included brand new shafts/bearings and reconditioned props we have gained several knots of speed to get us there faster and spend more time fishing with less time running. We also upgraded some electronics for safety and to give us better information. The Mackerel run has started the Tog are still here on inshore wrecks and the Sea Bass should get started soon as well as the spring Striper run in the DE Bay and the Black Drum fishing has been great the last few years so you can book a combination trip for daytime Striper & evening Drum fishing.

Feb 6 2006
Maverick is well underway with some upgrades in shafts/props to make it faster and more efficient. We are also upgrading some electronics to stay on the cutting edge. We plan to be ready to be back into the slip early April for the early season fishing that we hope will be avaiable earlier this year due to warm temperatures and very mild weather patterns if they continue. Maverick is drydocked right in front of Hookem and Cookem bait shop/fish cleaning building if you want to stop by during the layup months. We will be there during weekends when the weather is nice to get a head start on the polishing and waxing and would love to say hi if you can stop by.

The Delaware Bay striper run continues to improve with fish being caught in the rips on the drift and larger fish coming to the net while chunking further up the bay. The striper fishing should be good well into December this year now is the time to get out there and catch a fish of a lifetime, several 50+ pound fish have been caught and there are a fair amount of 40+ pounder caught daily. The Tog fishing has slowed due to the moon phase but there are still plenty to catch and they are of good size.
Oct 28 2005
The striper run is starting to develope and there are some very nice cows being caught in the upper portions of the Delaware Bay the rip fishing at the mouth of the bay has been slow getting started but when the weather gives us a break we are catching fish there. The hot action should be here through November as the water continues to cool and I expect a banner year for fall striper as well as some very good Tog(Blackfish) Action on the wrecks and structure.
Oct 5 2005
The chunking bite has really turned on as well as a good offshore trolling bite so the time to fish is here now it is a matter of fitting your trip in with the breaks in the weather. The striper's should be here soon and the inshore wreck and bottom fishing is still steady so book your trip now through the end of November.
Sept 22 2005
Beautiful day and a great group of Saltfishers onboard, Trolling is very difficult with the massive amounts of weeds from the 30 line out but the target was Mahi Mahi and we limited out on light tackle with dolphin from 2 to 10 pounds.
Aug26 2005
Great day on the water and clear skies the Tuna action has picked up on the 30 line and the marlin bite is still consistant from inside all the way to the deep. Overnight chunking trips are having a steady catch of Yellowfin tuna as well as an early morning bite on Longfin Albacore out in the 100 fathom area.
Aug.13 2005
The Marlin bite is red hot with the WMO coming to an end it was a week of the best weather the tourny has seen in years and there was no shortage of marlin bites. The Tuna bite remains very spotty with very few boats trolling up more than a few a day and many days none, the dolphin continue to fill in the void in many fish boxes.
July 22 2005
The water is 80 degrees everywhere and there are dolphin and white marlin being caught quite regularly. We did have a release on a short bluefin tuna and we boxed a gaffer dolphin, pulled the hook on a second nice dolphin and raised a white marlin without hooking him. The tuna bite is very slow and spotty the only consistant action seem to be coming from the Washington Canyon and the inshore lumps near it.
July 16 2005
The offshore water has gotten to 77+ degrees and there are some White Marlin and some Yellowfin tuna showing a bit more action, the inshore bluefin bite remains spotty but there is still a steady pick with dolphin mixed in daily as well as king mackerel.
July 10 2005
A bit slower day but a 54 pound Bluefin was put in the fishbox in addition to some small Bluefin caught and released.
July 4 2005
The bluefin tuna bite has turned on and Maverick brings in 2 Tuna at 55 pounds each in addition a 12 Pound dolphin as well as a chopper bluefish for the day.
